No matter where you live – everyone has a cell phone. Consumers love with their cell phones. Cell phones are like an accessory, albeit an expensive one and go with us everywhere. However, with so many cell phone providers and plans consumers no longer have to remain with the same provider. Here are 7 tips to save money when switching cell phone providers.
IGNORE SALES ADVICE
Do not base your purchase on the advice offered by the salesperson. Their job is to get you to make a purchase. Do research and compare prices with at least three cell phone providers.
SKIP INSURANCE
There are strict guidelines for filing insurance claims. You may have to pay a deductible when a claim is filed.
CRUNCH THE NUMBERS
Crunch the numbers to determine if buying upfront is the cheapest option.
SKIP THE LATEST
Keep your phone until it stops functioning. Do research to compare performance, features, warranty information, and total cost (monthly fee, one-time fees, cancellation fee, insurance, deductibles, etc.).
AVOID TERMINATION FEES
Determine the cost to switch providers. If you cancel your service prior to the contract end date, you will be charged a termination fee. If you switch to a new provider, you will still pay the fee, which is rolled, into your new plan cost on a monthly basis.
CHECK THE NETWORK
Verify that your cell phone will be compatible with the new cell phone network.
VERIFY SERVICE
Do research on the quality of service for your area. Visit cell phone company forums; search social media, or ask family, and friends for feedback.
